When George Lucas began to make plans for the Star Wars sound track, he shunned the conventional wisdom of his day and chose to use complex, orchestrated music at a time when most movie producers were experimenting with electronic sound tracks. I remember when the Star Wars movies first came out (yes, the originals, and yes, it was a long time ago.) |
Movie goers also experience the same intensity of emotion listening to Howard Shore’s orchestrated themes in Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson has masterfully created a mixture of sight and sound that draws viewers back time and again. |
So what do the themes of these two movies have in common in addition to being emotion soaring, beautifully orchestrated pieces?
I enjoying transposing songs and simplifying them into easy patterns so that non-musicians can use them to play their very first songs. I recently created some YouTube videos of both the Star Wars theme and The Lord of the Rings theme so that anyone can use them to follow along and play these songs on a xylophone, recorder or piano. You can watch and play along here: Star Wars Theme Lord of the Rings: Hobbit Shire Theme There are more YouTube videos and Free Song Pattern resources at www.Popular8NoteSongs.com |
Wishing you joy on your musical journey!
